About

For as long as I can remember I have loved making things.

As a student at Syracuse University I discovered, among other joys, metalsmithing and ceramics.  I graduated in 1995 with a BFA in Metalsmithing and a very large collection of tea pots, plates and mugs - thanks for the storage Mom!  I spent the next 10 years exploring & working in various fields. I landed back in NYC in 2002, moved to Brooklyn in 2007 and quit my HR job to stay home with our 3 boys.  In between parenting, naps and play dates I kept making things (you wouldn't even believe how much knitting).  In 2016, when the boys were in school full time I, at last, found my way back to the ceramics studio.

I try to keep my work simple while challenging myself to try new shapes, techniques or ideas.  When glazing I tend towards white and black, focusing on the relationship of the two colors or finishes.  The speckles are inspired by my middle son's freckles and they are so fun to do. These pieces are meant to be used every day.

I am fortunate to work in my neighborhood on the Brooklyn Waterfront at a busy studio.  I thrive on the idea-sharing, collaboration with others and I seriously appreciate the distraction of the occasional gossip session.

Thanks for visiting,

Lauren
